Lions spread peace with art

The Northumberland Lions club recently sponsored the Middle Schools annual Peace Poster Contest for students ages 11 through 13.

The contest is governed by rules of Lions International and are strictly enforced.

The contest begins on a local Lions Club level and the winner then moves up to the Multiple District-24-D, which consists of 1700 members and represents southeastern Virginia.

The winner of the District level then moves to state, national and finally the global contest. Before it ends, over 350,000 peace posters will have been created. The Northumberland Lions winner is Katherine Bruneault, who will receive a $100 savings bond, second place Tara Wiggins will receive a $75 bond and third place Hannah Allison a $50…
