On Dec. 6, Carrie Crowther broke the Bridgewater school record in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 27.67 seconds and won the 100-meter freestyle in a time of 1:01.86.
Selected as the co-captain of the Bridgewater College Women’s Swim Team, Crowther, who is touched by the accolades and honors from team. Earlier this month, she was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Swimmer of the Week.
On Dec. 6, Crowther helped the team earn a 167-94 victory over Sweet Briar and took home the first place honors in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:15.94.
Then she broke the school record in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 27.67 seconds and won the 100-meter freestyle in a time of 1:01.86.
She capped off the night helping to win the 200-meter freestyle relay in a time of 2:00.24.
“I’ve never put up a time that fast early in the year so I was pretty excited about it,” Crowther said.
But while the awards have been gratifying, they would not have been possible if she was turned away from field hockey.
