Republican Chairman “optimistic” about upcoming federal election year
In the Northumberland County Republicans’ first meeting of 2014 at the Quinton Oaks Golf Course’s clubhouse on Thursday, Jan. 9, County Chairman Dean Sumner relayed his perceptions from recent travels to the committee.
Sumner said he had observed signs indicating that people are fed up with the way the government is being operated, and that they are calling for adherence to the Constitution.
“Wherever I go, I hear it,” he said.
Sumner said a recent lawsuit has started questioning the Affordable Care Act’s legality because the clause that Chief Justice John Roberts deemed a tax and thereby allowed the act to withstand attack in the Supreme Court over a year ago was initiated in the Senate.
