JV Indians remain undefeated in district
Wayne Howard takes the ball to the basket.
After the weeks deep freeze the JV Indians hosted the Washington and Lee JV Eagles. The home team came out warm on offense, and hot on defense.
Zak Kent started the scoring for the Indians then three of his teammates chipped in. On the defensive end they held the visitor to zero fields and only three free throws.
The second quarter was played evenly with both teams scoring seven points. This gave the Indians a 10 – 17 lead at the half.
Their lead was increased by the end of the third to 21 – 30; giving them a nice cushion going into the final six minutes.
The cold finally caught up to the Indians they scored only five points in the fourth. They were still hustling on defense, so they only gave up eleven thus securing a victory 32 – 35.
Coach Kyle Jones told his squad “To just relax and pass the ball to the open man” when they were being trapped. Wayne Howard scored nine points, followed by Zak Kent with eight, Joseth Tarkton with seven, Travell Payne with four, DeQuine Johnson with three and James Weldon with two.
