Elementary students take part in child identification program

Northumberland County’s EZ Child Identification program got off to a late start at Northumberland Elementary School due last week’s school closures, but by early Monday afternoon, Resource Officer Allen Garland and volunteer helpers had created 55 identification CDs for youngsters to take home to their parents.
Garland said he expected to have provided about 400 children with CDs by the end of the week.
The program was created by the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Bedford County, Garland said. It involves creating a CD with the child’s identifying information including a picture, height, weight, fingerprints and identifying marks.
