Students take spotlight at school board meeting

The Northumberland County School Board recognized several students for a variety of accomplishments at their monthly meeting on Monday.
During the meeting, Track Coach Eddie Barnes recognized Trinity Bea, Kadene Gordon, Ameer Veney and Kiondre Owen, all of whom placed highly in regional track events and will be “going head to head for state championships.”
Tahi Wiggins, who won the 2014 Northumberland County spelling bee, runner-up Nick Balderson and other students who competed in the Bee were introduced to the Board.
The next round of the contest will be the state Bee in Richmond.
