Indians aiming to pitch a strong season in 2014

With the long, snowy winter hopefuly in the rearview mirror, it’s time for spring sports to begin.
In fact, scrimmage season was supposed to start last week, but with the exception of a varsity baseball trip to Richmond, the rest of the schedule was cancelled. Why? If you guessed snow, you would’ve been correct.
Now, it’s rain and wet playing field conditions that may be a factor with another storm coming in this week.
For the Northumberland Indians’ baseball team, Varsity Head Coach Johnny Mothershead had the opportunity to get in a scrimmage game last week at Benedictine High in Richmond.
As has been the case for all boys’ sports this school year, Mothershead’s roster is loaded with seniors —something he sees as one of his strong suits.
