Northumberland Indians part of district’s strength

The Northern Neck has long been noted for the strength of its baseball teams.
And the 2014 edition appears to be no exception.
Going into the first full week of district play, Colonial Beach sits alone in the #1 position with two wins against district teams.
The overall records show four of the six teams with winning records up to this week.
In addition, this past week saw Northern Neck teams victorious in three non-district contests. Rappahannock defeated King William. Lancaster, in a visit to the Eastern Shore, snatched a double header from a strong Nandua squad.
And the Northumberland varsity baseball team went on the road to Mathews County and came back with a 9-1 victory over the Blue Devils.
The Indians scored a run in the top of the first inning on a passed ball and added another score in the second when the Mathews pitcher walked four batters.
