Longtime educator to retire in June
Retiring Northumberland Middle School Principal Robert Bailey
Bob Bailey, Principal of Northumberland Middle School, plans to retire after this school year. He has worked in the Northumberland school system for 38 years.
“Northumberland County has been good to me,” he said.
Bailey is originally from Richmond County and still lives there, but he doesn’t mind the 25-minute drive to NMS. “It’s just time enough to get your head cleared, but not time enough to make you tired,” he said.
Bailey started his career at Rehoboth School in 1975 and worked there for two years until they closed the school down. As he was the last one to come in there, he didn’t have another job to go to right away. Then he got a job with CETA, a federal funded program and taught physical education in Richmond County.
