No resolution on slashed pay issue regarding Northumberland educator after meeting
Northumberland educator Tammy Wilkins and her lawyer, Patrick O’Brien, recently met with Northumberland County’s superintendent of schools, Dr. Rebecca Gates regarding Wilkins’ objection to having her pay slashed by 12 percent when her duties at the high school haven’t changed.
O’Brien said that nothing was resolved at the meeting and that it ended when Gates said she needed to consult counsel on the matter, which could end up being decided in a lawsuit.
As the Echo went to press, the school board was scheduled to have a special meeting Aug. 5 at which it was to discuss personnel contracts and legal matters in executive session. Whether Wilkins’ complaint is part of the matters to be discussed was not disclosed.
