Dozens of Ruritans enjoyed a classic oyster roast that was held in honor of their dedication and hard work in organizing community events.

The Callao Ruritans held their annual Oyster Roast November 7 at Keyser’s Brothers Crab House in Lottsburg.

The traditional dinner of steamed oysters, crackers, cheese, ham sandwiches and Philip Deitz’s homemade seafood sauce was attended by almost 30 members and guests including three charter members of the 43-year-old club.

The oyster roast was in appreciation to the individuals who put in a long summer of hard work that provided the community with entertainment and participation in three softball leagues, truck, tractor and lawn mower pulls and the first annual Callao Ruritan flea market, all held on the grounds of Turner field.
