One local summer league softball team concluded the 2013 season claiming their sixth consecutive title. Little did they know their success before the fall season would put land them in talks with the best team in the nation.
Scotty George, manager and pitcher for the Docks of the Bay Softball Team, said after a great year with the group he’s looking forward to the spring.
“That was a good team,” George said. “The team was extremely unselfish and the guys got a long really well.”
George said the team originated from members of the Callao Summer League Softball League Team that won this past season. When George was not playing with the Docks of the Bay, he was playing with a travel softball team along with teammates Matt Harding and Blake Williams.
But with the factors of their growing ages and time away from home, they were enough motivation for George to start his own team. Forming a team from the summer gave George an opportunity to balance being at home and playing the sports he loves.
“The only way to convince my wife to allow me to play was to have my own team,” George said.
