Homes will be revisited
Those who thought they’d heard the last of the tourist home debate in Northumberland County until the Board of Supervisors revisits a proposal to make such use of homes in residential areas a matter of right at its February meeting will be disappointed to hear that an application for a conditional use permit to operate such a home near Burgess is on the Board’s agenda for Thursday.
Janice Walton is asking that she be granted a permit to operate a tourist home at 710 Forest Green Road.
“Tourist homes” are residences rented for less than 30 days at which the owner is not present during the rental. In the past two years applications to operate such homes have drawn considerable opposition at public hearings.
