June 24 – 28 – Summer Fun Workshop for Children -” Mosaics, Mosaics, Mosaics!” - Award winning artist Sukey Starkey will instruct mosaics. Students, ages 8-17 will create two different pieces either 9 am – 11 am or 1 to 3 pm each day Cost is $50. Materials fee of $10 will be due to the instructor the first day of class. Walk to see the stately Kentucky lady slipper and other “distinct populations” of mountain plants at Hickory Hollow Natural Area Preserve in Lancaster County on Saturday from 10: a.m. until noon with Master Naturalist Ellis Squires and the Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society. Meet about 0.3 miles north of Rt. 3 on on Regina Rd. (Rt. 604) in Lancaster County. Information at 804 436-4944. Bring water, a camera or binoculars if desired.
