Lloyd Carrier Jr.
Carrier coached at Lancaster High School 17 years (1988-2005) with a record of 236-98 that included five District titles, five District tourney titles, three Regional titles and five State appearances. He also won 7 Christmas tournament championships for a winning percentage of .706. His teams were rated in the Associated Press top 10 six times. He won District titles with both boys and girls J.V. teams. He was named Northern Neck Coach of the Year three times.
Winter H. “Shorty” McCrobie
Baseball & Softball
McCrobie not only started the now legendary Texacos men’s fast pitch softball team but was also instrumental in organizing ladies softball and was the key person in the beginning of Little League baseball in Lancaster County. He was the Coach of the first team to play in the county.
Baseball & Basketball
In 32 years at Colonial Beach High School Swope earned 517 basketball victories that included 12 District titles, a Regional title and the State Championship in the 2008-2009 season. He has been District Coach of the Year 14 times, Regional Coach and Free Lance-Star Area Coach of the Year and State Coach of the Year. He has 461 baseball wins that include 11 District titles. He was District Baseball Coach of the Year 12 times and Free Lance-Star Area Coach of the year three times.
Webb started training and racing in 1912, and won his first race at the Kilmarnock Fair. He went on to win more than 500 harness races around the country. One of Webb’s horses, “Even Guy,” had seven straight wins at Freehold,New Jersey, just one short of the Freehold record.
