Last week couldn’t have gone much better for the Northumberland Indians varsity baseball team.
On Tuesday at home, they topped Mathews 4-0. On Friday, participating in the Dream Fields Invitational, they beat King William 10-4 and on Saturday blew out Middlesex 10-0.
On Tuesday, Northumberland’s Jack Jett opened on the mound, pitching six innings and striking out 11 batters.
“He pitched really well,” said Indians’ Head Coach Johnny Mothershead.
In the third inning, the Indians’ Collin Donovan singled, Brennan Saunders moved Donovan to second on a sacrifice bunt, Matthew Harris singled, Josh Hinson singled to bring Donovan in for the score, Jett doubled to notch two more runs for Northumberland and Brandon Walker doubled to score the fourth run.
Harris was one-for-three, Jett one-for-three with two RBI’s and Brandon Walker two-for-three with a double and an RBI.
