Board discusses barn and loan

Wednesday,  Northumberland County’s Board of Supervisors decided to move ahead on site work for the new emergency vehicle pole barn that will be constructed across the lane from the old courthouse.

The supervisors had earlier voted to build the shelter for the county owned vehicles and Wednesday’s special meeting was about going ahead with site work including removing old buildings on the site and filling the site so it is level. Supervisor Tom Tomlin voted against the contract to have the fill poured because he believes the way smaller contracts have been used has improperly evaded state law on contracts involving $100,000 or more.
