Northumberland County’s board of supervisors spent a good deal of its meeting Thursday acknowledging and thanking people who have been helpful to the community.
The Supervisors passed a resolution commending Janice Kauffman for her years of service with the Mid-County Rescue Squad.
The resolution noted that Kauffman, who is retiring from the squad, provided emergency medical training and taught CPR to “hundreds” of county residents and served on the squad for 14 years providing medical care to the county’s residents with “compassion and professionalism.”
“Janice saved the lives of many county residents,” the Supervisors said.
Accepting the resolution from Board Chairman Ronnie Jett, Kauffman said, “Thank you. I’m ready to retire.”
The Board also passed a resolution acknowledging Bessie Bayse Hudnall on the occasion of her 100th birthday. She could not attend the meeting but her nephew, Mercer Hudnall, accepted the resolution on her behalf.
The supervisors proclaimed April as “Child Abuse Prevention Month” in Northumberland County and April 14-20 as “National Public Safety Telecommunications Week” in the county.
