David LaForge was last seen near Burgess on Friday, August 23 driving a 2003 white Ford 250. Just two days later, the Northumberland Sheriff’s Department declared LaForge a missing person.
On August 30, the sheriff’s department announced that LaForge’s body had been discovered and that a suspect was in custody. Their Facebook post read, “The body of David LaForge has been recovered. Suspect is in custody. The detectives would like to thank the citizens that assisted in helping them with this case. Our condolences to the family.”
On Wednesday, September 4, the Lancaster Sheriff’s Office posted an update on Facebook. The post read: “Lancaster Sheriff’s Office and Northumberland Sheriff’s Office conducted an extensive investigation together and solved the missing person and tragic murder case of David LaForge. Jacob Monday, age 20 and from Lively was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Murder, concealment of a body and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The detectives from both agencies worked very hard to bring this case to a close quickly. Monday is currently being held at Lancaster County jail.”
