With nobody speaking at the public hearing Northumberland County’s school board had at its Feb. 12 meeting at the high school auditorium, the only plea for a budget item came from Guidance Counselor Beverly Donovan who asked the board to include another full time counselor in its 2019-2020 budget. The addition would allow each of the county’s three schools to have two counselors.
The board was scheduled to have a work session on the budget Feb. 19. It hopes to have it ready for submission to the Board of Supervisors by the end of March.
The balance of the meeting was devoted primarily to recognition of members of the school community including the members of the school board.
