This Thursday, July 4, is Independence Day. If you are a resident of Northumberland County and would like to display fireworks, you must obtain a fireworks permit before doing so. They can be obtained from the Northumberland County Administrators Office during its regular office hours. To request an application to display fireworks or to obtain more info by email, email Northumberland County Administrator Luttrell Tadlock at ltadlock@co.northumberland.va.us. You can call the office at 580-7666 for more information as well. Folks, please practice safety when using fireworks. Northumberland County Government offices will be closed on July 4th and 5th in observance of the holiday.

The Lewisetta Independence Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday July 4th.  Parade line up starts at 9:00, is free and open to the public. Hot dogs will be served at the Lewisetta Marina after the parade For more information, contact Wendy at 450-7963 or the staff at Lewisetta Marina at 529-7299.

Holley Graded School Inc. Annual Fish Fry will be on Saturday, July 13, 11:00 a.m. at their facility at 2439 Northumberland Highway in Lottsburg. Plates include all your favorite sides!  Bar-B-Q sandwiches will be sold also. Proceeds are to help benefit our building fund.

Plan not to cook Saturday, July 13. The Ushers Ministry of First Baptist Church Heathsville will have a dinner with your choice of fried chicken, baked chicken, ribs or pig feet as an entrée. The dinners will be available from 10 a.m. until. Carry out accommodations are available. Tickets are available in advance from any member of the FBC Ushers Ministry or by phoning me for assistance.
