Northumberland County’s Democrats did something last week that hasn’t been done in a long time, if ever. They opened a party campaign office.
Individual candidates have had headquarters in recent years but at least one long-time active Democrat, Marshall Davison of Westmoreland, who has been involved in politics since the 1950’s and served as the chairman of that county’s committee, said he couldn’t recall any party campaign offices. He said he recalled Tayloe Murphy giving space in his Warsaw office to the Obama campaign in 2008 but no party headquarters. (Note: Davison is the writer’s first cousin and the writer has been following politics as long as Davison.
