The Northumberland Public Library in Heathsville’s meeting room was aglow with art created by the region’s homeschooled children.
The youngsters, ranging from four to 17 years old, created 157 paintings that were hung on the room’s walls. They ranged from small to relatively large and from early efforts to more sophisticated work by older students. They were almost all painted in bright hues.
Cheryl Davis-Jett of the Northern Neck Homeschool Group said the group’s 54 students come from Northumberland, Lancaster and Richmond counties. Art training is one of the program’s out-of-home programs. Others include field trips and gathering for help with such things as dissection of frogs.
