With the opening of the school year just a month away, all fall sports began their practice in earnest the beginning of the first week in August. Football had taken advantage of their twenty practice days to begin last week but everyone else hit the links, the field or the gym to get going on the 2017 and 2018 school year.
Girls volleyball under the watchful eyes of varsity Coach Anjelica Scott and JV Coach Katelyn Orem began their practice session with 31 hopefuls. By week’s end, the coaching staff had narrowed that number down to 14 varsity and 12 JV ladies. That meant the difficult task for coaches of having to cut five individuals. The two teams open their season with a home scrimmage on August 21st against Christchurch and then hit the road the next day for a trip to Northampton.
The Cheerleading squad under new Coach Shanita Curry hopes for a turnout of fifteen to twenty young ladies to form both a varsity and a JV squad.
