Last Wednesday, the Indians hosted their only home meet this season with King William and Rappahannock. King William won both the guys and girls meet being the only team with sufficient numbers to have a team. Individually, Zach Moore took second, Delacourt was ninth, Perez 12th, and Biddlecomb 14th. For the ladies Sadie Bake was second and sister Bess Blake was third.
This year’s guys team has James Baker, Grant Biddlecomb, Pierce Delacourt, Zach Moore and Dustin Perez. The ladies squad has sisters, Bess and Sadie Blake.
The Indians varsity field hockey team got their first win last Thursday and they did under the most adverse conditions in a 1-0 topping of 3A Phoebus. On Monday, the ladies traveled to Caroline and lost 4-0
The Caroline game saw the Lady Cavaliers score three in the opening half before the Indians defense stiffened to slow them down. “We had nice opportunities,” said Coach Mark Fridenstine, “but failed to score especially in the second half.” “Good games” went to Jayna Bramblet, Anna Jett, and Chloey O’Bier.
