Steve Weddle joined the Westmoreland News as ad compositor in October 1998. At that time he was also holding down teaching positions at RCC and Christopher Newport. He quickly moved up the local news ladder to sports writer/associate editor/photographer. In the summer of 2000 Weddle took the position of Editor of Northern Neck News leading that paper in new directions from creating pages which were sent to the plant by courier for printing and distribution, to the age of creating pages on disc, and ultimately to sending the paper electronically to the printer.

He stayed the course and guided Northern Neck News and its sister papers, Westmoreland News and Northumberland Echo, into the digital age; through ownership by several different entities until Lakeway Publishers purchased the group in August of 2007 and quickly added several other Virginia papers to the fold. In January 2008 Weddle left the Northern Neck News for The Central Virginian in Louisa, commuting from Heathsville until he and his family were able to relocate.

Effective August 5, 2019 Steve accepted the position of director of administration with Virginia Press Association. With his 20 plus years of publishing experience he will oversee administrative improvements at VPA.

Everyone at the news office wishes him well and look forward to the fruits of his labor at Virginia Press. They are lucky to have him.
