The first game back from the holidays for the Lady Indians basketball team wasn’t the best with a 71-19 blow out by Lancaster last Tuesday. The rebounded for a 39-14 win at Colonial Beach on Thursday. The fear of bad weather cancelled Saturday’s visit from Northampton.
Both contests were on the road with Lancaster pouring it on in front of their fans. Tanaya Seldon and Breanna Davis scored four points. Thursday’s game matched two teams that fought for the district lead just a couple of years back. This season they are fighting to stay out of the basement. Senior Zaire Jackson led the Indians with her best night this season. She scored 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds, had five steals and three assists.
The ladies will entertain W&L on the seventeenth and Rappahannock on the twenty-second.
Weather also cost the wrestling team a trip to Franklin on Saturday for their Invitational Tournament. On Wednesday they traveled to Middlesex for a tri-meet, winning one and losing the second. They topped Windsor 42-18 but lost to Middlesex 54-24 when they forfeited six weight classes.
