Before introducing the night’s performers of the Washington Saxophone Quartet, Martha Tallent, president of the Rappahannock Concert Association had good news for those who were disappointed when the Four Freshman’s October concert was washed out by Hurricane Michael. The group has agreed to perform in the association’s first concert of next season.
The Washington Saxophone Quartet, who have been performing together for 42 years, delivered a recital entirely different from what the Freshmen would have provided. The quartet, made up of Reg Jackson on soprano sax, James Steele on Alto sax, Rich Kleinfeldt on tenor sax, and Rick Parnell on baritone sax blended the tones of their instruments flawlessly as they performed music ranging from the “Agincourt Song” of 1415 to “Syncopated Rhythm” made famous by Duke Ellington.
