The 2018-2019 high school sports season has been marked as the season of weather related cancellations and reschedules. It started in the second game of the football season when the game at Northampton was stopped at half time by lightening.
The weather bug continued this past week with snow and now has lead to a busy rush of games in basketball for the last week of the regular season this week.
In the ladies contest, the game was a battle to stay out of the Northern Neck District cellar. Ironically, just a few years back, these two teams were fighting for the regular season title. That wasn’t the case in 2019. The game was also Senior Night for the Lady Indians with six young ladies putting on the green and gold for the last time. Senior Zaire Jackson helped get the celebration going by scoring ten points and grabbing ten rebounds, Jackson also had seven steals and came very close to a rare “triple double”. Junior Kristen Thompson and freshman Tonaya Seldon each added nine points.
Seniors are Breanna Davis, Brittany Davis, Zaire Jackson, Jonea Noel, Anna Pitss and Jernaiha Smith.
