Homeschool students from across the Northern Neck joined together in a magical performance of the beloved classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast. Under the expert instruction of Ms. Rebecca Nunn, the cast of 20 plus students ages 14 and under worked tirelessly to learn lines and paint and create scenery to bring magic and entertainment to all in attendance of their three shows on November 18, 19 and 20. The students exhibited a great amount of talent and maturity by completely memorizing their lines without any prompts, and fully assuming the characters that they were portraying. The cast brought a new energy to the beloved classic and had every viewer laughing throughout the show.
Julianna Thacker assumed the role of Florabunda, the “Magical Enchantress” who narrarated and set the scene for the action that took place. In true story-telling fashion, she held a large fairy tale book and created a personal connection with audience members. Peyton Smith and Emma Thompson portrayed the beloved father and daughter combination of Henry Beaumont and his daughter Belinda a.k.a. Bell. At the beginning of the story, Henry and Belinda were members of a wealthy family. Belinda adored her fully stocked library and well attended gardens. When financial misfortune struck the family, they were left with no choice but to leave their comfortable home and to move to the countryside to grow beans, corn, and zuchinni.
