This month’s theme is “Kids Day”!
Bring the kids and the grand-kids! We’ve got fun things for them to see and do. The 4-H is bringing their miniature horses. Several corn-hole games will be set up for playing in front of the Carriage House. A “mystery hunt” will take place at 10 a.m. Prizes will be awarded and every participant will get a special treat. There will be special kids’ music and bracelet-making. And be on the look out for a few other surprises as well.
Then check out all the vendors at our Farmers Market. We get new ones all the time. This month you’ll find purveyors of beautifully-sewn children’s clothing, handmade dolls & doll clothes, hand-made dog and cat biscuits, hand-painted glassware, and gorgeous specialty jewelry. Black Boar Farm is returning their local honey and heritage breed pork. Edmonds Farm is expected to be here as well with their bison steaks, ground bison, summer sausage, pork brats & eggs.
In addition, you’ll be able to shop for all your favorite vendors, like Garners for local produce, flavored olive oils from “The Health Nut”, fresh-baked bread and scones from Anna’s Bakery, block-printed clothing by Julianne, framed artwork from Bayside Framing, Capt. Tom’s oyster floats & spat, and other unique locally-made handcrafts. Kemper’s Nursery will have flowers and nursery plants. Don’t forget to pet the King William Alpacas!
Our four Artisan Guilds will be on-site. Follow the smoke to the Forge to see the Blacksmiths. The Woodworkers are in the Carriage House. The Spinners & Weavers will be demonstrating and selling their wares in the pavilion. The Quilt Guild will also be in the pavilion, selling raffle tickets for their latest quilt project — two replica Civil War “Cot Quilts”.
Grab a breakfast sandwich or a hamburger from our food concession in front of the “Transportation Museum Building”. Stick around for a free walking tour of historical Heathsville Town Square. Our costumed volunteers will strike out at 10:15 a.m. from the “Transportation Museum Building.”
No doubt about it — there’s a lot happening at the Tavern!
