The Northumberland Lady Indians track team took third place last weekend at the Virginia High School Leagues lA state championships at East Rockingham High School. Auburn High School took first with 100 points. Patrick Henry of Glade Springs was second with 54 and the Lady Indians scored 44 to finish in third place. The Ladies two relay teams took second due largely to the anchor leg runner, Savannah Blake. In the 4 X 400 relay, the Indians were in fourth place at the last hand off. The 4 X 400 team consisted of Khadijah Bea, Tiffany Taylor, Trinity Bea and Blake.
Blake also anchored the 4 X 800 relay team of Khadijah, Kendra O’Malley and Trinity that placed second.
Individually, Blake took a second in the 300 meter hurdles and fifth in both the long and triple jumps. Trinity Bea took a second in the 400 meter and sister, Khadijah placed fifth the in the 800 meter race.
