It was great week of the Lady Indians softball team, they beat Rappahannock there Tuesday in a nine inning game, 10-3; topped Lancaster in Kilmarnock, 10-0 on Thursday. The two wins give them top billing in the district playoffs this week beginning here Wednesday with Essex. The guys lost at Rappahannock Tuesday, 2-1 then topped Lancaster for the second time 10-1 there.
At Rappahannock, with the score tied 3-3 in the top of the ninth, Zoie Sadler walked, followed by an error, Jaylyn Thompson drove in two runs, Hannah Hayes drove in a run as did a double by Taylor Basye. Kelsey Moss then doubled to score Basye. Brantly Swift went the distance on the mound, giving up five hits and striking out nine. Thursday, at Lancaster, the big bats were Basye, 4/4; Hayes 2/3 with a double and Sadler with a double.
The guys saw their hitting off in the loss but it came back with twelve hit attack over top seeded Lancaster. Collin Saunders went 4/5 with a triple, Cole and Nick Basye both went 2/4 with
Nick adding a triple. Nick Basye was on the mound for another “great pitching” game.
