At 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, a line formed outside of Northumberland High School to sit in on the public comment portion of the Atlantic Menhaden Draft Amendment 3. The sun was low and warm, and the Star Spangled Banner could be heard from the high school football field. The line was down the sidewalk, and people voiced their surprise at the size of the crowd. One couple, Dave and Jennifer Luckritz, waited to get inside. “We’re here to see what happens,” Mrs. Luckritz said, “We hope they can explain a little more.” Once inside, people added their names to a sign in sheet which also asked what company or organization they were associated with. The crowd was so large that the info packets were gone before all the people finished filing into the auditorium.
