Northumberland’s Jack Jett pitching against Rappahannock

The Northumberland varsity baseball team picked up a win on Tuesday at home against Lancaster 7-4, on Senior Recognition night. But in their game that was switched from Thursday to Friday because of the storm, they lost to Rappahannock 13-1. The loss snapped a 15-game winning streak.

Seniors recognized on Thursday were Clinton Carter, Collin Donovan, Mathew Harris, Brennon Saunders, Blake Walker and Brandon Walker. The game against Lancaster was a close one as the Red Devils were leading 4-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning.

Trevor Cantrell walked, Saunders was safe on a bunt single, Harris singled to load the bases. Josh Hinson walked to send home a run and Brandon hit a sacrifice fly to score a run. In the sixth inning, Carter Deihl doubled, Harris an Cantrell both walked to load the bases. Deihl score don an attempted run down of Harris who was safe, Cantrell moving to third. Hinson walked to again load the bases and Jack Jett doubled to drive in three runs.
