On the soccer side, the guys dropped their district semi-final match at Montross to W&L, 1-0. They open Region 1A East play on Tuesday with a visit from Franklin on Friday after a first round bye.
The ladies opened their play with a 9-1 slaughter rule win over Essex here Friday. The win puts them in Tuesday’s district playoff championship at W&L. Cameron Lewis and Hannah Loving each had a three goal hat trick. Tahi Wiggins opened the scoring and ended with two goals. Beth Blake scored on a “beautiful” header. Defenders who did well were Alex English, Grace Emminizer and Mackenzie Osborne. After a first round bye in the regionals, the Indians host Essex on Friday.
The guys baseball team made it three in a row in a come-from-behind 7-6 win Wednesday over regular season champion Lancaster. Bowe Rogers and Collin Saunders each had two hits. Blake Edwards and Saunders doubled. On Friday in the district playoff championship, the Indians lost a pitcher’s duel to Essex, 1-0. Nick Basye was on the mound, giving up five hits, no earned runs while striking out eight. In first round Region 1A action they will entertain West Point here Wednesday in a six p.m. game.
