It was the first time in Northumberland County that there has been a Back to School Rally, especially in the vein of the one that the school system held this past Saturday.
The rally was made possible by the business community as well as the support of the teaching, administrative, cafeteria and custodial support.
Although the rally was held in the High School building, all Grades participated in the the Back to School Rally. When students and parents entered the side door of the High School, teachers and volunteers sat at lines of balloon decorated tables with welcoming smiles ready to help with information and little red tickets which entitled the person to free hot dogs with all the fixings, soft drinks or water, chips and a cookie of their choice. Many of them enjoyed sitting family style in the tall high school tables and chairs. There were also regular long school tables and chairs available.
Copies of the September meal plan for each of the three schools, Elementary, Middle and High School, were available to take home, as well as information about good foods to eat. Parents could also set up a payment plan for school meals. There were information sheets about exercising, relaxing, having fun and a recipe sheet.
