It’s good to get around, see the sights, check out the trees, sniff at the ground and feel the sun on your back.  It’s easy to take mobility for granted – until you meet Maximus.  He is named for his outsized personality with his gift for maximum affection and enthusiasm. Not for his disability.

Maximus’ back legs prevent him from even a casual walk around the shelter lobby.  It’s an effort to drag half of his large body up to you to greet you.  But he does.  He was found on the side of the road by a good hearted Samaritan who thought he’d been struck by a car.  The skin on the tops of his feet was scarred and raw.

A medical examination revealed that Maximus was not injured but suffers from a long term disability or earlier trauma to his hind quarters.
