The Northumberland Association for Progressive Stewardship celebrated Earth Day at the “Make it a Heathsville Saturday” last weekend.
One of the great things that NAPS is doing right now is a big initiative for solar power in local schools. A group of sixth grade Community Problem Solvers has been working all year to try to bring solar power to Northumberland County Public Schools.
They recently did a presentation before the School Board and traveled to Middlesex County where the public schools have gone completely solar powered. They also visited Cople Elementary School in Westmoreland County that has a newly established solar power facility.
“We have started looking at different companies that could help us go solar in Northumberland,” said Shauna McCrainie.
McCrainie was on hand to discuss different projects that NAPS has already completed for this year.
