Just after 2 p.m. on July 15, a call came through to the Lancaster Sheriff’s Office regarding what was thought to be human remains. The caller was working along the Rappahannock River at the 5600 block of Windmill Point Road, when he spotted what have been confirmed by the Medical Examiner’s Office as the remains of Leroy Bussells. On December 23, Bussels, a 69-year-old man went out on his Grady White boat for a fishing trip, and never returned. Bussels was living in Woodbridge, but was a Northern Neck native.
The Lancaster Sheriff’s Office stated on their Facebook page that “we extend our thoughts and prayers to the family, and we thank the citizen who called this in so closure could be provided. May God provide comfort for the family during this difficult time.”
