Northumberland County’s Board of Supervisors adopted the county’s budget for 2019-2020 last Tuesday; the next day the School Board adjusted its projected budget to fit the increase given the schools by the supervisors.

The supervisors approved a $42,096,200 budget which included an increase of $665,000 over last year’s apportionment to the schools.

The School Board had asked for an increase of $1,250,135 above the 2018-2019 county allotment for the schools. The supervisors approved an increase of $665,000. Last year the total school budget was $17,611,824. The coming fiscal year, it will be $18,276,824.

Superintendent of Schools, Holly Wargo said, “the $665,000 will be applied to additional regional program costs; a 3% salary increase for all employees; and to the increased health insurance cost of $150,160.”
