Posted on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 4:14 pm

Nouvelet Chamber Choir will present their tenth annual Christmas concerts at 5 p.m. December 14 and 15 at White Stone United Methodist Church, 118 Methodist Church Road, White Stone. Nouvelet is under the direction of Elaine Johnson and accompanied on piano by Susan Cousins. Cousins, who began lessons at the age of three and continued classical training through college has played widely at churches and events in the Northern Neck and greater Richmond areas.

The 15-member choir includes singers from Lancaster, Northumberland and Middlesex counties. These women are talented musicians who enjoy singing with multiple groups and churches in the area. Nouvelet is known for its beautiful tone and harmonies.

This season in addition to more traditional songs of the season, Nouvelet’s program will include selections from Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols op.28”, composed between 1939 and 1942 for Women’s voices and harp. Many of the carols were inspired by a collection of Medieval poems English Galaxy of Short Poems and other 16th century texts and follow the story of Christmas.
