It was a lively Friday evening at Henderson United Methodist Church where people enjoyed warm spaghetti with cheese and meatballs coupled with salads, Italian bread with butter, desserts and a choice of iced tea or lemonade as part of a Boy Scout fundraising Spaghetti Supper.
With family, friends and fellow scouts of the Callao-based Boy Scout Troop 250 helping put the supper together, Patrick McKenney spearheaded the event to raise funds for his Eagle Scout Project to build a pavilion down at the end of Lodge Landing.
Patrick’s father Mike McKenney said the project was “100 percent” Patrick’s idea.
Patrick received praise all around from the dinner guests, including his uncle and aunt, Charlie and Katie Hundley, who shared how proud they were of him and his efforts.
The Northumberland High School student and Boy Scout was visibly surprised at the turnout for the dinner.
“I’m amazed at how many people have shown up, seeing that it’s only the first hour,” said Patrick, a hint of a smile present. “I was not expecting this many people to show up this quick.”
