Northumberlanders proved that they indeed do bleed green and gold as community members of all ages hit the streets of Heathsville for this year’s annual homecoming parade. First Baptist Church partnered with the schools as well as several other county organizations to paint the town and show support for the students and athletes.
Police officers began shutting down the streets at around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, for the big event and at just past 11 the precession could be seen approaching from the distance. Heading up the parade was a vehicle from the Sheriff’s office, followed by members representing First Baptist Church.
Horses trotted along being let by cowboys and cowgirls and students held a banner reminding attendees of the upcoming spring Farm and Field day event. Members of the school’s JROTC program were decked out in their full uniforms and chanted as they walked to help amp up the excitement of the crowd.
