Posted on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 10:11 am

In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month TRHF Families and staff participated in the Pinwheel Parade at the YMCA.

On April 12, 2013, children and their parents participated in the Three Rivers Healthy Families Parent Group at the YMCA in Heathsville. The children enjoyed the YMCA facilities for playtime and activities with their parents. Parents  listened to a presentation by Martha Hall, Regional Resource Coordinator for Brain Injury Association of Virginia.  Ms. Hall presented information to parents regarding Traumatic Brain Injury.  Families also discussed the importance of Child Abuse Prevention and how it relates to Traumatic Brain Injury. A grant from the Virginia Department of Health through their prevention program made it possible for the children to take home brand new bike helmets.  Families also received other household safety items. Three Rivers Healthy Families is a free home visiting program of the Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Community Services Board. TRHF supports and empowers families in the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck.  For more information regarding the Three Rivers Healthy Families program call 804-758-2042.
