The Tidewater Foundation held it’s annual Grant Awards Ceremony at the Lancaster Public Library in Kilmarnock on Monday February 25.
Twenty-one lucky recipients were awarded grants through the foundation.
The Tidewater Foundation was created 65 years ago to enrich the life of local residents. According to Tidewater Foundation President Ammon Dunton, the Foundation has done just that in various ways through the years. “It’s created diverse swimming pools for the residents and various other things, Dunton said. “Many years ago it became apparent that the festival event, The Holly Ball, might need corporate sponsorship in order to be assured of it’s future,” Dunton said.”
The Holly Ball is one of the oldest balls of its type in the United States.
“We decided we would support the Holly Ball and use that as our fundraising meeting,” Dunton said.
