Wrestling team hosts tournament

Posted on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 12:04 pm

The Northumberland wrestling team had a busy schedule last week. On Wednesday, they traveled to Mathews to participate in a tri-meet with the Blue Devils and the Red Devils from Lancaster. On Saturday they hosted six other schools here for their Northumberland Invitational. The story is the same as it has been all year, open weight classes give their opponents forfeits amounting to six points per class. Against teams that have a full roster of wrestlers it mean the Indians are behind by 36 to 48 points depending on who shows up to compete.

That got them Wednesday in their tri-meet, the Indians lost to Lancaster 72-12 and Mathews 36-27. Wrestling Wednesday, Trinity Taylor went 0-2; C.J. Timberlake, 1-1; Aden Swisher, 0-2; Nick Tallent, 0-1; Kevin O’Malley, 1-1, Caleb Davis, 2-0, Bowe Rogers, 1-1, and Dylan Davis 2-0.
